Having come from a corporate background of meetings and networking events, I truly saw the value of shared inspiration and support. When I moved to Rhodes in 2008, the one thing I missed from the London business world(and it wasn’t commuting for over 3 hours a day!) was the camaraderie and moral and practical support from like minded people.

Our networking meetings started  over coffee in Swedco in Faliraki and proved so much more than just a coffee morning. It’s amazing how ideas can just develop when you share them with others and we left feeling inspired and motivated to start new challenges.

For those of you who are thinking, I would love to start a business but what if it doesn’t work? Hey but what if it did? Or I don’t have the knowledge or skills to do what I want? Maybe you think I am too insignificant to make an impact or my business is only small – just think about the impact that one small mosquito can make who tries to go to bed with you!!!

Life is all about opportunities and it’s the person who takes the initiative who has the lead. There will always be people who sit and wait for something to happen... waiting for someone to knock on their door with a new opportunity. Believing that surely people will know they are great at what they do!

Business networking is not about a closed shop where everyone gives each other work, it's much more powerful than that. It's fundamentally about the act referring business to people that you have grown to know, like and trust, and for them to do the same for you.

Approximately 70% of new business that your company gets is through word of mouth. Networking allows you to formally explain what your business is about and as fellow networking business people get to know you so you will naturally start to win new sales leads because people like to pass business to people that they know.
